Car insurance is definitely a mandatory calling for all cars in UAE enforced by the government. But there are innumerable banes than boons to availing car insurances in UAE. There are many hidden traps in this field which one should be vary of be it the buyer or the supplier. A disappointing practise noticed in recent times is that even if an owner ensures to pay his/ her insurance on time or adds extra insurance just in case, might be a subject to legal vulnerability despite paying more. The justice system of the government can affect almost everybody in UAE. A third party cover of insurance is mandatory and insurance companies must make a payment to a family if someone is killed in a fatal accident which is commonly known as “blood Money”. But the legally mandatory insurance is very less and does not cover the whole family members if they also suffer the same accident. Given the situation where a worker has a driving license but knows very little about the insurance policy details since he is not well educated, the father must find out if his family members have medical cover if ever he is to be in an accident causing his family to be injured. Even people with comprehensive and more advanced insurance policies often end up in jail and serve time until the blood money claims are completely sorted out. People who dont check for third party covers which extends to family members in their insurance who are likely to be in the accident end up paying extra premium for other less important coverage aspects such as damage to personal possessions and authorised agency repairs. Some charity workers after witnessing such incidents, raised funds for under privileged people who served more time in jail for such fatal accident cases as they could not pay the blood money for their release. Accidents are likely to happen any time. The insurance is not entitled to cover the driver’s personal injuries even if a tyre bursts, which is a genuine case. Therefore, this requires passengers and drivers to avail insurances with more comprehensive coverage and absolutely no ignorance of all the policies. Also, if the driver had been drinking, the law is considered broken and the insurance policy is not entitled to cover the driver’s medical treatment but cover the other victims who were present in the accident. Although these car insurance policies in UAE seem completely legitimate and justified, it can prove to be a important bane during dire situations if the terms are not understood properly.
