2007 was a very busy year for me and I would remember it as a successful business year. Mark Brewer came into limelight for all the right business reasons that year. The year was also made memorable by the release of one of my most favorite history based movies, 300. 300 which was directed by Zack Snyder has become a cult film of the modern generation. Every person fighting for a great reason relate themselves with Leonidas, the main character of the film. I (Mark Brewer), Mr. Oak and Mr. Phoenix are all of the same opinion that the film has more to it than apparently seen. Some people drubbed the film as pointlessly violent. But battles back in history were bloody affairs, so the film showed the times in right light. After the success of 300, there were widespread reports of a second part for the movie. But the next part was caught up in a quagmire for some time. Finally, the Warner Brothers have signaled that the shooting for sequel to 300 i.e. 300: Rise of an Empire is under way and they have tentatively declared that the new movie will be released in March next year. If 300 depicted the famous Battle of Themopylae, the second part will focus on the Battle of Artemisium. Both these were real historical events that occurred during the Second Persian invasion of Greece. Both these battles were fought side by side and the fate of one affected the other. 300: Rise of an Empire has a completely new set up, though there are some characters from the last film too. The movie will be directed by Noam Murro and it will feature Sullivan Stapleton as Thermistocles. Lena Headey, David Wenham and Rodrigo Santoro will reprise their roles from the first movie. Zack Snyder has taken to screenplay for this movie. As mentioned before the Battle of Artemisium was fought between the Greek states of Athens, Sparta, Corinth, other small kingdoms and the powerful Persian Empire. Persians were led by Artemisia I and Achaemenes, while Themistocles was leader of the Greek forces. Upon receiving news of an impending Persian invasion, the Greeks led by Themistocles had decided to protect their homeland on both fronts: land and water. King Leonidas was manned the responsibility of negating the Persian advance along Thermopylae, while Themistocles and his men protected Greece from the marine attacks. There was intense fighting along the coast which went on for two days. At the end of second day, news filtered in about the defeat of the God King Leonidas. Before this, the battle was level. Both the warring parties had lost equal number of men. But Themistocles had smaller count of troops at his disposal, so he could not afford the loss and decided to retreat. The Persians overran into vacated Athens and the Greek Allied troops took refuge near Salamis, an island. The confident Persians wanted to register another victory over the Allied Greek forces so they waged the Battle of Salamis, where they were defeated. 300: Rise of an Empire will focus on most of these historic facts. It looks I (Mark Brewer) will have a great time watching this movie. I have high expectations from the second installment of 300.
