Richard’s Kid the 8 year old son of Lemon Drop Kid and the two time champion winner of the Pacific Classic(gr.1). He has won total of six grade stakes in a career start of 27. The decision was taken after he suffered a minor tendon injury. Recently ran the TVG Pacific Classic on August 25 at Del Mar he placed fourth however winning the one before that on July 26 at the Cougar II Handicap (gr.III) for the second time. In 2010 the dark bay or brown colt won the Goodwood Stakes (gr. I) at Betfair Hollywood Park followed by his win at the San Antonio Handicap (grII) at Santa Anita Park. Led by Joe Talamo at the closing from outside, the 8 year old trashed bob’s favorite Sky Kingdom at the Cougar II Handicap on July 26 at Del Mar. Winning the race by half a length the final time for the 1 ½ mile polytrack 2:30.93 not far off from his last year’s record. After the race jockey Joe Talamo had said; "He really laid it down all the way,"he kept fighting and fighting the last sixteenth. He really tries hard and he loves this racetrack." – BloodHorse The race was worth the watch as the top three battled among them throughout the straight run to the finish line, where Richard’s Kid paced forward with his long strides leaving behind Sky Kingdom and Blueskiesnrainbows who came in third. Trained by Richard Small for 16 starts for breeder Robert Meyerhoff’s Fitzhugh LLC, Richard’s Kid still holds a track record for ½ miles at Del Mar standing at 1:29.22 along with the Hollywood Park track holder for 1/3 miles at 2:16.43. Later being purchased by Arnold Zetcher and campaigned by the Hall of Fame Trainer Bob Baffert for the next five outings he was sold again to Zabeel Racing International. Bob Baffert continued his campaign till he was purchased by a partnership group including Paul Sr., Paul Jr. and Christopher Boghossian's Triple B Farms and also consisting of Mark Verge's Westside Rentals, Dave Kenny, Steve Keh, and Danny Kramer - Bloodhorse Finally running from Doug O’Neill’s barn he raced 12 times before announcing his retirement on September 24, 2013.
