The southern part of India is commonly known for its warm atmosphere. But there are some rare places where one would find cool atmosphere with a pleasant climate every time in the year. Kodaikanal is certainly a hill station where one would fulfil all of its requirements. As it known, the word Kodaikanal means “the end of a dense forest or closed forest”. The city of Kodaikanal is surrounded with dense forest all over and filled with greenery. With a tinge of mountains, it has some of the beautiful views of the south. From the past, this hill station was the home of some native tribal named as Palaiyar. Later on it was captured by the British and its development started since then. The Kodaikanal Tourism department under the Tamil Nadu government authority has delivered a great tourism aspect to showcase their beauty to the world.

The Kodaikanal tourism development authority has developed their transport system gradually with the time. Assembled with all the latest technology Kodaikanal Transport system is well organised and scheduled. The roadways transport system is dominated by mainly the luxury buses along with the common bus services. The bus service is the most efficient way to reach the hill city as it directly connects the city with the other nearby cities. Other than this, there is the railway system. The nearest railway station is the Kodai road railways station which is about 100km from the original city. One would have to simply avail the local taxi service or the bus service to reach their. And in case for the foreign traveller there is also support for the airways too. The nearest airport is at Madurai which is about 120 km from the Kodaikanal. There is aid for everyone to reach the city with ease. And the gates of Kodiakanal are always open for everyone to welcome them with their great hospitality.

The Kodaikanal Tourism organisation publishes a tourism magazine named as the Kodaikanal Travel Guide, which is the main source of information for the interested one. The main interest in the city lies in the Berijam Lake and the Kodai Lake which is the heart of the city. Else there is the Brynt Park and Chettiar Park which is the source of the new youth generation. Else there is the Kurinjiandavar Temple for the worshippers in Hindu religion. All over there are more or less several sun set points and hill steps are found where people gather to visit the famous sunsets and sun rises of the south. All over the Kodaikanal Tourism department really deserves thanks from every one for highlighting such natural beauty.

The book also refers that Kodaikanal in one of the oldest markets in the southern India. The famous cheese, made in Kodaikanal is well known for its taste all over the India. The other surprise is, the chocolate manufactured in Kodaikanal is also recognised globally for its reach taste and flavour. And the famous Indian spice is at its best in Kodaikanal too. One would never want to miss such a experience of life time in Kodaikanal Tourism.
