News Dialog Semiconductor Announces Panasonic as Wireless Sensor NetworkHome Automation Customer (7/10/2011) Dialog Semiconductor plc (FWB: DLG), a provider of highlyintegrated innovative power management, audio and short rangewireless technologies, has announced that its DECT ULE (ultra lowenergy) technology has been adopted by Panasonic for thecompany"s new range of ultra low energy wireless home safetydevices. DECT ULE forms the basis of Dialog"s newly introducedSmartPulse™ wireless sensor network devices. DECT ULE basedproducts combine long range, low interference and ease of use withultra-low power consumption levels. These systems automaticallyconnect and configure with a home"s wireless sensor networkhub and can be remotely managed via the web using a smartphone, laptop or tablet PC. Dialog"s ultra low energy wireless sensor network deviceshave been created with battery-powered applications in mind, operate in the 1.9GHz DECT frequency band, have a range of morethan 50m indoors and 300m outdoors, are self-configuring andrequire no network planning. The DECT ULE standard is backwards compatible; enabling wirelesssensor nodes to communicate with existing legacy DECT enabled hubsand internet gateways from multiple manufacturers, with a simplesoftware update. IMS Research has projected a rapid uptake of theDECT ULE standard for wireless sensor networks. The deal further extends Dialog"s relationship withPanasonic, a leading Japanese technology innovator and manufacturerthat also uses Dialog"s DECT technology for its digitalcordless phones and Dialog"s configurable power managementICs to maximise the battery life of its recently launched range ofmedia / TV players. Mr. Takehisa-san, General Manager Communications Products PlatformGroup at Panasonic System Networks said: "Dialog is the firstcompany to launch the DECT ULE standard and through this technologywe are able to bring significant benefits to our customers. DECTULE technology will expand the success of our cordless productportfolio and the technology is ideally suited for smart homesafety applications." Jalal Bagherli, CEO of Dialog said: "Combining exceptionallylow power consumption and ease of network configurability withDECT"s large user base and consumer friendly, easy to installnature, makes DECT ULE a key enabling technology for homeautomation, health, security and smart power monitoringapplications. Together with Dialog, Panasonic"s innovativeteam has brought wireless home safety devices to the consumer worldand the company is well positioned to lead these new wirelesssensor network markets." Dialog, a co-founder of the DECT ULE standard, announced itsSmartPulse family of system-in-package IC devices in September2011. The modules are the industry"s first commerciallyavailable DECT ULE devices and enable the creation of homeautomation, security and energy monitoring devices thatautomatically configure with the base station, removing the needfor network planning. www.dialog-semiconductor.com Visit our featured links Visit our sponsors and showcases.
