The torque components are essential for the proper functioning of the driveline. They are often preferable to electronic safety devices because of their better response time, ease of assembly, maintenance and greater reliability, even under harsh conditions and if there are important loads or masses. Conversely electronic systems act upstream on the transmission (therefore not along the line of movement) and have generally a longer response time . Moreover, the most complex installation and maintenance could often generate operation errors. On the other hand, the use of backlash free torque limiter needs no maintenance and provides long-term reliability. It has several possible applications: servomotors, printing or packaging machines, CNC machine tools, guidance counselors, index tables. Among the benefits arising from the use of a backlash free torque limiter we can include the preservation of: - servomotors and slip from limit bumps; - the motor from jamming; - switches from overloads; - machine's unit from collisions.
