1. Be reliable. Have everything you need for any situation. You will need plenty of copies of your resume and head shots. Keeping a large collection and variation of head shots is recommended, show different looks; variation is the spice of life. Have a car, a computer with internet access and a phone. You need to be reachable at all times and have access to any information you need. Before any audition print and bring sides if they are given. 2. Be in the moment. Ignore the camera and anyone else on set that isn't in the scene. If you need to look into an actors eyes, always look into one, do not switch back and forth from eye to eye. It is recommended to look into the eye closest to the camera. Focus on reacting to other actor's lines rather than thinking about what you will do next. If you just blurt out your lines when you are supposed to you may find yourself over acting or being robotic. Listen carefully to the dialogue of others and gather your energy and emotion from the situation and react to it. 3. Be malleable and versatile. Prepare your lines multiple different ways. It is important to have a broad range of emotion. Take notes given to you and work with them, don't take offense if a director wants to try a scene a different way. It's important to be easy to work with and adaptable to change. No one will want to work with someone who is unable to take direction. 4. Work daily on your craft. Perfecting your monologues, practicing sides and learning to play new emotion or characters will allow you to be a more efficient working actor. Take classes or acquire an instructor, you will learn something new every time. Attend as many auditions as possible, this will allow you to build confidence and become more comfortable in front of people. Joining an improv group or taking improv lessons can help exponentially on your acting ability as well. 5. Memorize. Be prepared for whatever your next project or audition is. Find a way that allows you to easily memorize your lines. Everyone learns differently and finding an efficient way your brain learns is imperative. Don't be the person scrambling to memorize everything thirty minutes prior to shooting or auditioning.
