There seem to be new tests available all the time which are created to help us monitor our health. One of these is the Omron heart scan. A heart scan is a non-invasive procedure that shows the amount of calcified plaque you have in your coronary arteries. If a contrast dye is used, you may have to fast beforehand and the examination can take a little longer. Once the scanned image of your heart has been analysed, it's converted into a number ranging from 0 to several thousand. This number is called your Calcium Score. The higher your score compared to others of your age and sex, the more calcified plaque you have in your arteries and the greater your risk for a future heart attack. This early warning system may help you to take more care with your lifestyle and diet in order to avoid problems later on. Another area where Omron is a trusted name is in the field of asthma. Omron nebulisers are used in thousands of homes for the administration of medication. An Omron nebulizer can deliver the right amount of carefully controlled medicine to an adult or a child. Inhalers are also used but many parents find that a nebuliser may be the better alternative for a child. Some kids who need asthma medicine start out using a nebulizer. Others are given an inhaler with a spacer and face mask. Some older kids use only an inhaler, with no spacer attached. So which is the best way to deliver asthma medicine to the lungs? Studies show that the device used really doesn't matter, as long as it's used properly. All methods work just as well when the correct technique is used. Of course, there are pros and cons to each type of device. Inhalers are smaller and require no power source, and because they deliver the medicine much more quickly than a nebulizer, they may be preferred by some parents. It is for this reason that many parents decide to invest in an Omron nebulizer rather than struggle with an inhaler, especially for younger children.
