Thinking about how your website design will look like can be a daunting task. Since the design will naturally have a lot to say about your image and reputation, you want a design that is unique and very representative of what you want to send across to your audience. With so many website templates available that you can even use free of charge, it makes expensive and lengthy customised website designs at a losing end. However, is it really worth investing on a website template or not? The use of templates is a good idea if you want to save money and you want to have a website design at the soonest time possible. Going for a customised design can cost you, and if you are not in a position to spend that much on design alone, free templates that you can manage yourself can be an ultimate lifesaver. If time is not on your side, it is best to go for templates. Building a website from scratch not only takes painstakingly long, but it can also be frustrating especially if the developers and designers that you hired require a long a really long time to write your website's code. With templates, the code is ready-made and can be used immediately after choosing what you like from the options. In order to have a template that works best for your website, look for a template that has most of the website features that you want covered. Although there is that fear that website templates may not have the proper code on its back end, this 'fear' can be avoided by choosing the most reputable template provider in the industry. With properly-coded templates, you can manage your website on your own even if you have little or 0 knowledge regarding website development, maintenance and design. Also, well-coded templates can be easily optimised, and this can work favourably on your end if you want your website to rank promisingly in the process. So choose wisely and take your time in choosing the template provider to invest in. However, when are customised designs best to use? If you want to avoid having a website that looks like a replica of something else on the web, you need to work with a custom designer. If you want exclusivity in your design, you need to invest on it well - time-wise and money-wise. Also, going for templates means it is already built; you cannot change it to fit any minor changes that you have. Making tweaks to the code can be done, but only to a certain degree. If you want full autonomy with your website’s design, invest on customised work and not on templates. Ultimately, the use of website templates is a double-edged sword. Thus, it all boils down to your website requirements and the limitations that you are ready to contend with should you proceed in going for a ready-made website design.
