We’re only weeks away from Christmas now and the stores are already loading up on festive stock for early present buying and a little pre-crimbo sugar indulgence (how hard is it to resist all of those amazing looking chocolates?). Another sweet little thing that is impossible to ignore is the new baby that’s just been born. Babies are one of the easiest to buy for and yet at the same time, they are exceedingly difficult too. Why, you ask? Babies are easy to find generic, obvious gifts for; the only problem is that parents end up with about a million baby grows (that don’t fit after a couple of months), far too many rattles and soft toys, and enough silly new-born Christmas outfits to clothe every child in Yorkshire! This year, be a bit more thoughtful – follow these tips on how to buy the best gift for a new-born baby… 1) Ask what the parents need There’s no point buying a lovely bottle steriliser when the parents already have 2; it’s a waste of a gift and a waste of your money. Ask them in advance and find out what they’re missing and what they might benefit from. Remember, a baby won’t remember what you buy but the parents sure will. 2) Go personal Your present will be much more appreciated when that little bit of extra effort has been made. Personalised gifts like baby keepsake boxes are a really good idea because they can be used through baby’s life and will bring happiness to the parents whenever they look at it. 3) Think ahead If the parents have plenty of new-born clothes etc. plan ahead and start buying for what they might need in a few months’ time. Babies grow very quickly so buy a size up for them to grow into
