Storing your property for a length of time is sometimes a necessity, but it can also turn out to be a calamity if you are not in the know about safety and organization. When you are renting storage space, do everything in your power to keep your property safe, dry, and in the same top shape you left it in. Place the heaviest boxes and rubber containers of the bunch on the bottom and the lighter ones on top of those. This will prevent anything from getting crushed and damaged. Remember that you are going to see to it that your boxes do not sit directly on the concrete floor of the unit. Everyone has items that they use more frequently than others. Store these items in boxes that are kept near the front of the space as opposed to further back. This will make it easier to find them when you come looking for them. This would include household items, everyday items, and electronics. All of your knick knacks and decorative items can find their way to the back because you will not need them until you are ready to move your stuff out of the storage area. To keep your belongings protected, cover them up. Use light blankets, bed sheets, or moving pads. This is particularly important if your property will remain in storage over the cold winter months.
