Communist Party of China (CPC) onWednesday pledged to strengthen its anti-corruption efforts byfurther implementing the Party officials' family reportingregulation. Party organs at all levels should carefully administer the familyreporting regulation to prevent officials from abusing power,taking bribes and participating in other illegal activities,according to a communique issued by the fifth plenary session ofthe CPC's 17th Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI). The CPC promulgated the family reporting regulation in 2006, bywhich Party officials are obliged to report information such asemployment conditions of their spouses and children, real estateand investment. The communique issued on Wednesday added that the disciplinaryorgans would strengthen their management of those Party andgovernment officials whose spouses and children have emigrated. It also encouraged more public participation in the anti-corruptionefforts and pledged to improve the disciplinary organs' ability tocollect and research public complaints of corruption by officialsthrough the Internet. The Party's disciplinary organs will continue to regulategovernment's spending relating to the purchase of vehicles, officereceptions, construction of official buildings, as well as overseastours to ensure taxpayer's money was spent wisely. The communique said the reporting regulation and otheranti-corruption measures were introduced to support publicinterests and increase trust in the government.
