Why Button Batteries must be Recycled?

Career,Communication
Button battery features Button battery is also known as button cell, which refers to the battery whose dimension is like a small button. In general, the diameter is larger, and thickness is thinner (relative to the cylindrical battery, such as 5 AA batteries on the market). Button cell battery is classified from the appearance; the same classification of the corresponding battery is available for columnar battery, square battery, and shaped battery.

Classification of button batteries Generally common button batteries are charging and not charging two kinds, the rechargeable type includes 3.6V lithium-ion rechargeable button cell batteries (LIR Series), 3V rechargeable lithium-ion button c battery (ML or VL series); non-rechargeable type includes 3V lithium button battery (CR series) and 1.5V alkaline button battery (LR and SR series);

Application of button batteries More common button batteries are AG3, AG10, AG13 batteries used in toys and gifts, CMOS battery used on computer motherboard, CR2032 and CR2025 type used for electronic dictionaries, CR2016 or SR44, SR626 used for electronic table, etc.

Button batteries need to recycle People say the waste batteries have pollution, mainly because the battery contains cadmium, mercury and lead three heavy metals. All three heavy metals have large toxicity, and they retain for a long time in the environment, which also enter the body through the food chain to cause chronic poisoning. Currently the batteries sold on the market must be labeled with mercury content. We can know whether it is not environmentally friendly battery or not and whether we can trash it in the by viewing the mercury content of batteries. A button battery can make 600 tons of water undrinkable. Environmental protection department said household batteries have reached low mercury or mercury-free technology requirements, which can be put with the regular household trash for decentralized delivery, need no centralized recycling. But it should be noted that that button cell batteries, electric car lead-acid battery and nickel-cadmium batteries still need to recycle.

Button Cell Battery

Currently, we have six categories of common batteries: 1. Lithium battery, used for mobile phone batteries, heavy metal content is negligible, which can be delivered with the garbage. 2. Alkaline batteries, such as the 1st, 5th, 7th batteries for home use, mercury-free or low mercury, which can be delivered with the garbage. 3. Nickel-metal hydride batteries for hybrid cars, and children's toys, heavy metal is negligible, which can be delivered with the garbage. 4. Nickel-cadmium batteries, used for small current cordless phones, electric toys, including a large number of heavy metal cadmium, which need to be recycled. 5. Lead-acid battery, used by electric car battery, containing a large number of heavy metals lead, which need to be recycled. 6. Button batteries, used in electronic equipment, to allow the presence of a small amount of mercury, which need to be recycled.
