The Jeep Grand Cherokee has been on the automotive scene for 20 years, and the manufacturer has just remodeled it from head to toe. Check out these 10 new distinctive characteristics: HID Headlamps The new headlamps on the Jeep Grand Cherokee are adaptive and respond to the driver's steering. The idea behind this technology is to better illuminate winding roads and other difficult night time driving conditions. Daytime running lamps also come standard. Headlamp Washers Drivers in snowy conditions know just how frustrating it can be to clear off your car then realize once you're on the road that your headlamps are partially blocked. The new headlamp washer feature helps clear off accumulated or fallen snow so drivers have solid light projection ahead of them, no matter the weather. Engine Options Though not on the market yet, the new EcoDiesel V6 engine is already generating buzz. It outputs low CO2 emissions and can stretch a tank of gas to last as far as 730 miles, or 30mpg highway. Drivers can also choose from a 3.6L, V6 engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission or a 5.7L, V8 engine. Both of these traditional gas options offer Eco Modes that can improve fuel efficiency by as much as 10% over last year's model. 8-Speed Transmission The upgraded 8-speed automatic transmission is designed to offer better fuel economy while still delivering fast acceleration and smooth shifting. All three engine options feature an 8-speed transmission for optimized performance. Blind Spot Monitoring Drivers get a little extra support from the dual radar sensors that monitor common blind spots. A chime sound dings and a visual alert appears on the side rearview mirrors when nearby objects, such as other vehicles, motorcyclists, or stationary objects are detected. Forward Collision Warning Similar to the blind spot monitoring, this feature has radar sensor that detect when the vehicle is approaching an object too quickly. The driver is alerted with an audible chime sound. Traction Control The new Jeep Grand Cherokee features an advanced traction control system that gives drivers 5 modes to choose from. These modes align with different weather and road conditions, including snow, mud, sand, rock, and auto mode. Drivers who like to take their vehicle off road or into more extreme conditions will appreciate the fast-acting air suspension system that works at the touch of a button. They'll be able to choose from five height settings depending on their current situation. Upgraded Sunroof A dual-pane sunroof adds a splash of fun and a unique look to the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Two panes can be manually or power controlled and feature sliding glass panels that extend towards the back seat area. A power sunshade offers relief from the sun while still allowing air to enter and circulate throughout the vehicle. Fans of the traditional single-pane sunroof have that option available as well. Premium Sound Systems Jeep offers three sound system options. Drivers can choose from a 6-speaker system, a 9-speaker system, or a premium, state-of-the-art setup with 19 speakers. Storage A power lift-gate and fold-down rear seat give drivers a rear cargo area of more than 65 cubic feet of storage space. Scuff padding prevents scrape marks on the bumper or interior. Cargo nets and tie down loops make it easier than ever to load things in and strap them down. Check out the newest models at your local Jeep.
