The procedure used for reducing breasts size is breast reduction surgery. This surgery involves removal of excess fats in the breast, after which they are the reshaped. Drains are placed at the time of surgery, and can be removed in the office in two to five days. Patients are suggested to wear a compression vest for two months to aid in the skin re-draping process. Patients can resume most activities within two weeks, and should be able to perform chest exercises and heavy lifting by eight weeks. It is important to avoid steroid use if this was a causative factor.
