Everyone works for money. Money is everything and is enough to inspire. Incorrect. Sure, most people value money much more than they should an sure most of your employees come under this category but as a leader you should never forget that there is more to a job than just money. If you try luring them with only money, you will have a bunch of money-minded employees who don’t care about their work as much as you’d want. Also, they will work well only when they have a money incentive attached. Therefore, your aim should be to understand what employees want and crave for more than money. Help them Get Better Each employee surely has a skill that sets him apart. Why not give him an opportunity to polish that skill and be a master? Employees love learning and getting better at what they do. It is your duty to give them that opportunity. Provide them with the right tools, the right resources, and the right support for them to learn at every step. When they learn, they will be confident of solving even the larger questions and problems themselves without asking you for help. Involve Them Don’t keep your employees restricted to their cubicle and their department. Encourage communication across various departments. Encourage them to share ideas and interests with each other. This will create a healthy and positive environment, which will in turn motivate employees to get to work each day and give their hundred percent. Restricting, restraining, and confining is very discouraging. Give them Meaning Your employees have to realize that you value their job and that their job has some meaning. In other words, they need to know that they matter. You might argue that it is obvious but the truth is that it is not obvious. Even if it were, there is no harm expressing it, is there? Give their job a direct connection with products and services, and customer management so that they know that their seat in the office is valuable. This is also motivating and matters much more than money. Value and motivation mean more than money. Entrepreneurial Learning Money is important, of course, but it is not the only thing that employees want. Employees also want encouragement, motivation, involvement, and value. This will push them to work hard each day. Money is a good incentive but it doesn’t always work positively. See more at http://www.kuzabiashara.co.ke
