William "Roger" Clemens is a former professional baseball player, and pitcher for various teams, such as the Boston Red Sox, and the New York Yankees. Roger was born on August 4th, 1962. Throughout his career, Roger Clemens won seven Cy Young Awards, which is currently more than any other player in the history of Major League Baseball. Clemens played for thirteen consecutive seasons for the Boston Red Sox, spanning over half of his career, although he was perhaps most remembered as being a dominate pitcher for the successful New York Yankees. Throughout his career, Roger Clemens played for four different teams, including playing for the Yankees twice. Roger Clemens started out his career for the Boston Red sox, which is where he would stay the longest. He would play in Boston from 1984 until the 1996 season. After the 1996 season, Roger then went to play for the Toronto Blue Jays, which wouldn't last long for Clemens. He would play there only from 1997-1998, and would quickly get signed by the New York Yankees in 1999. Clemens would stay on the Yankees from 1999 to 2003, before signing with the Houston Astros. Clemens, who was very good friends with Yankee pitcher Andy Pettitte, also went to go pitch in Houston, which is where Pettitte is from. It was at this time, that the Yankees had assumed that both pitchers were at the end of their career, of course both pitchers would prove that wrong, and eventually come back to the Yankees later in their career, and pitch well for them. In 2004, Houston Astros had signed Clemens, and he would stay there for two years, up until 2006. In 2007, the Yankees had resigned Clemens for the second time, and this is where he would finish his career. Although the Yankees didn't make the World Series this year, it was still a good year for the Yankees, as Rogers Clemens last game was a huge day for Yankee fans, with camera lights going off at every pitch, especially when people were trying to time his last pitch of his career, before his retirement. Throughout his career Clemens won several awards, including being chosen to the All Start team 11 times, in 1986, 1988, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1997 , 1998, 2001, 2003, 2004, and 2005. He was also a 2 time World Series Champion, in 1999 and in 2000, both times with the Yankees. He won the American League Cy Young Award 6 times, as mentioned earlier, in 1986, 1987, 1991, 1997, 1998, and 2001. He also won the National League Cy Young in 2004. He was also named the 1986 American League MVP. Since his retirement and towards the end of his career, there has been discussions on whether or not Roger Clemens took steroids, and perhaps that was the reason his career was extended, although nothing is for sure, there are certainly delegations being discussed about it.
