Many definitions are given to a word as diversely used today as management. But the official use of this term belongs to formal industries, wHere it pertains to getting things done with and through an organized group of people.
Of course the definition is broad without the proper contexts. This definition also has its variations depending on which perspective you take it. Management is both a process, an activity, an art and science that needs mastering and careful understanding.
Management is an Activity
Management is foremost an activity useful in every organizational setting—businesses, offices, corporations, and so on. Here's what management courses Hemsley Fraser teach us: This particular activity is concerned with guiding members of the workforce and the physical resources involved so they can all achieve the goals of the organization which they are a part of.
In the general sense, management improves the productivity of any workplace by ensuring that the expectations of the organization are met through the employees controlled by the manager. Management is a scientific discipline as well. It follows certain principles and, to some extent, sets rules for practitioners to follow. All theories and concepts that you can learn from project management courses, however, lead to one idea about management as a form of science: It is the technical basis for the execution of creative and personal ideas about managing an organization.
Management Skills
As much as various principles envelop management, it is in its core a practical idea that involves a lot of real-world applications. Applying these concepts require the basic management skills of planning, organization, direction, and monitoring. One can learn more about these skills through different project management training programs.
