Because the lessee only has to pay a percentage of the total value over what is typically a three-year lease, leased cars tend to be higher end, fully equipped models. Better yet, these vehicles have restrictions on how many miles a driver can rack up over the term of the lease. Mileage restrictions are offered in three categories - 9,000, 12,000 and 15,000 miles a year. A major industry association notes that used car prices will be softer during the first half of this year, which means those looking to buy need to be searching now until early summer. When it comes to looking for a used car, experts say prices can vary widely depending on where you live; it can even vary substantially from zip code to zip code.
