Some countries are more suited for homes than others. If you have a family of three or more and you want to move out abroad, somewhere away from pollution and the hectic hustle and bustle of the city, then New York is probably not the best choice. This is why more and more families have chosen Costa Rica as their new place of residence. Known in the past as one of the most notable attractions for young tourists, mostly because of the sandy beaches and active nightlife, Costa Rica is now emerging as the newest real estate location. This applies especially for Surfside properties, a residential region strategically located at the meeting point between three beaches: Playa Potrero, Playa Grande and Playa del Coco. It’s not hard to understand why a family might want to move out here. The change from urban noise and pollution to a peaceful property framed by three beaches is definitely welcome and, contrary to popular belief, Surfside properties are not a luxury. In fact, the average price for a luxurious house in Costa Rica is almost equal to the one of a small apartment in a metropolis. However, before investing in the local real estate market, there are a few things that you should know about Surfside. To begin with, Surfside is a Costa Rican real estate project that was initiated in the 1970’s. The area quickly turned into a point of interest for locals, but as years passed foreigners started to move out here too. Although the area might seem completely disconnected from the modern world, that isn’t the case here. Fast cable Internet is available and although major shopping centers are only in Santa Cruz and Liberia, you can do your daily groceries in local stores such as Super Wendy. There are also plenty of local restaurants and if you ever get bored of sunbathing and swimming, you can head over to the Garra De León or Hacienda Pinilla gold course. Unlike other locations in the area, Surfside is made specifically for residential use. There are a few clubs, but this region doesn’t stand out through that. Although Costa Rica has numerous exotic resorts, Surfside is not one of them. The properties are children-friendly, in the sense that there are many schools nearby and the area is very safe. One small drawback of Surfside is that not all the roads are completely paved. The work is in progress and in a few years it will probably be completed, but, in this region, hatchbacks and roadsters are preferable to sports cars. Most people who move here do this because they’ve traveled to here several times and liked it so much that they decided to move. The typical family living here is made up of parents and one or more small children. There are several educational opportunities for primary and middle school, but not so much for high school and college. Last, but not least, buying property in Surfside doesn’t mean that you have to move there. You can keep it as a vacation home: rent it out during the year and come back to spend summers here.
