Sporting innovative cabriolet styling and a selection of turbo diesel and petrol engines, the all-new luxury cabriolet is set to conquer the competitive field of open-top driving. The all-new luxury cabriolet has been developed on the technical platform of a sedan and the shorter wheelbase of hatch models. The result is a cabriolet which has a longer, wider and more athletic appearance. The scintillating overall image of this cabriolet appeals equally to motorists looking for a sporty experience as it does to drivers who appreciate understatement and a dynamically stylish silhouette in their convertible vehicles. New Cabriolet Styling The all-new luxury cabriolet’s heavily contoured separating edge forms a stylish, dynamic rear edge on its body. The wide, sporty appearance of this vehicle when viewed from the rear is the result of a shadow below the separating edge. Even with the hood down, the luxury cabriolet combines its exclusive looks with automatic protection. The roll-over protection system is deployed if the cabriolet rolls over. The rigid roll-over bars fitted in previous incarnations of the luxury cabriolet have been removed. Particular luxury cabriolet models with engines rated at 92 kW or higher come with twin tailpipes and sport packages. Such a sport package would include chrome-plated trims for the exhaust tailpipes. These open-top vehicles also offer substantial everyday practicality as the luggage compartment opening is now wider and larger overall to make loading easier. A variable hood tray allows the luggage compartment volume to be increased further via the rear seat fitted as an option. This seat can also be folded down in the ratio of 50:50 using a remote release function. Finally, an integrated aerial is concealed under the side panel trim so that the body line of the all-new luxury cabriolet is not disturbed, while it still provides optimum radio reception quality. Automatic Acoustic Roof The standard acoustic roof combines cutting-edge technology with classic looks and full automation. The fabric roof has a space-saving ‘k-folding’ design which is controlled via a central button in the cabriolet’s centre console. The fully automatic fabric roof opens in just 17 seconds and closes in 18, even when travelling up to a road speed of 50 km/h. Optimised material thickness and mounting coupled with additional insulation substantially reduce the level of noise in the interior when the roof is closed. When driving with the fabric roof down the standard wind deflector reduces wind vortices in the cabin. The fabric roof is made out of insulated, three layered fabric. The roof is available in black, grey and brown with roof lining colour with either a black or lunar silver interior. An integrated heated rear window and an elegant hood compartment with an aluminium trim strip surround to complete this cabriolet’s sophisticated appearance. The all-new luxury cabriolet offers a new dimension of open-top driving and an elegant departure from its predecessors. Every component and feature has been improved upon for an innovative open-top driving experience like no other.
