ALL 2007 AND LATER HARLEYS RUN CLOSED-LOOP EFI systems that get their information from the O2 sensor to maintain a constant air/fuel ratio, even after an exhaust of air cleaner change. The closed-loop system were added for emissions purposes only and do nothing to enhance performance, and, in fact, cause a lot more heat to be produced. Nightrider Performance Products offer an inexpensive products that richens up the stock, lean mixture from 14.5:1 to 13.8:1, by tricking the closed-loop system into delivering 8 percent more fuel at steady idle and low-throttle settings. We noticed the engine surged while cruising at steady, low-throttle settings on our 2009 Dyna Fat Bob test bike due to a too-lean air/fuel mixture, so we decided to install the Xtreme Inline Enrichment Device (XiED) to correct this situation. It should be noted that the Dyna had an aftermarket air sensor and the other into the bike’s wiring harness. One harness is under the seat, and the other is between the front downtubes, under the plastic cover. Both, O2 sensors are on the exhaust headers. Use zip-ties to tuck the extra wires away from the engine and exhaust pipes. The simple installation corrected the surge, with no side effects. The richer ratio only affects the closed-loop system, which means you won’t feel it immediately off idle if you crack the throttle or at the top end. - Tricia Szulewski Sources 313/444-9433 Nightrider.com When riding, don't forget to wear a carbon fiber helmet or a custom painted helmet.
