Why Cholesterol Is Necessary, and the Top Steps to Acquire It

Health,Fitness
Precisely what many folks don't know is cholesterol, that soft, waxy material that's found in our bloodstream and also all of our cells in the system are a substance we simply cannot live without. Cholesterol assists in hormone production, building cell membranes, helps with fat digestion, and even more significantly as we grow older is vital for neurological function. Like probably every necessary component to the proper functioning of the body, how it's generated and how we manage its production is important for our total health.

So why is it that cholesterol has taken on such a bad name, plus why do we have all those drugs on the market to scale down our cholesterol levels? An interesting theory is that our problems are not really with excessive cholesterol, but our inability to create the right forms of cholesterol. Since cholesterol is really an essential ingredient to our health, if we're deficient from it the body makes up for it by producing a broken LDL byproduct (the bad cholesterol), and transforms it into plaque.

The healthcare profession these days, which can be designed not to remedy problems but to handle situations, simply prescribes prescription drugs to decrease the plaque(with all its undesirable side effects), but does not speak to the fundamental problem which prompted our systems to produce this plaque to begin with. This bad plaque actually does naturally can have detrimental impact on arteries, and more than that lead to hypertension. But without this we are going to undoubtedly have other health problems. Nevertheless, if we can address those issues before our bodies start creating this plaque, we'll have dealt with the root cause of the problem.

The solution to understanding how we can produce the right type of cholesterol content will be to be aware of the interconnected workings of sulfur, vitamin D and cholesterol, and how it will be produced from exposure to the sun. Cholesterol sulfate will usually be produced in the liver, but when we are able to suitable quantities of sunlight exposure on the skin, this vital cholesterol can be produced within the skin layer. And whenever we are exposed to the sun, cholesterol sulfate is going to pass freely throughout the bloodstream, meaning the liver is not going to be asked to create LDL cholesterol.

The need for us to get enough sunshine goes back to the fundamental connection between cholesterol and the important vitamin, vitamin D. Receiving proper amounts of the vitamin is not always easy in the winter months. It is advisable for folks through the winter to take vitamin D supplements; however they still will only provide a small fraction of the vitamin D that sunlight will. If vitamin supplements are your only choice, needless to say they're better than going without.

There is indeed a lot of evidence to support these findings. We have witnessed in the general populace that the more sunshine the less cardiovascular disease. Also, with people identified as having Alzheimer's disease and that is believed to have its root cause with cholesterol, it's been discovered that vitamin D deficiency exists in 70 to 90% of the sufferers. Cognitive function in the elderly have been increased through higher vitamin D levels, both with individuals who've been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and people without the ailment.

Eating healthy meals starts with being educated on why certain foods work, and why others don't. Learn all about foods like margarine and other topics on our website. Jim O'Connell is a writer and health enthusiast living in Chicago.
