Most of us understand the essence of records in any given institution in place. You will find in almost any institution that there are records kept on a daily basis. The medical field represents just a fraction of the massive institutions that keep records. In this article all the nitty-gritty details about medical records is covered therein. To begin with, there are basically three types of records kept in almost all medical institutions; paper based, hybrid and electronic records. Paper based record is the most common and is losing popularity with time. You will find hybrid recording in majority of medical facilities whereby paper records are in place as well as computerized records. Electronic recording is the ideal recording system that every institution is striving to put in place. It offers a lot of flexibility and convenience when accessing patient information. This is unlike the other systems that make it a little difficult to retrieve information when required. Now that we understand the different types of records in place it is prudent that we learn about the access to medical records. In various occasions doctors may be requested to deliver a patient's medical report. These requests may be from an employer or any other interested party. You dont have to worry about that at all. Before any medical report is submitted to any party, the patient's consent must be sort prior to the delivery of the report. It is required by law of most states that a written consent is acquired from the patient. On the other hand, an assurance from an officer of the state that the patient has agreed may warrant the issuance of the report. The client must be fully aware of the scope, purpose, and possible consequence of disclosure. They should be given sufficient information before they consent to the delivery of their medical information.Even though the patient is given the right to assent or disagree to disclose the medical records, the law in some instances allows the requesting parties to still have the information required if it is in public interest. However, you are given the right to amend the report. HealthTec Software, Inc. 210.545.1010 http://www.healthtec-software.com/ht-electronic-medical-records
