When you get new floors you don’t want them to stain or wear quickly, because they’re both expensive and quite a lot of faff to install. It’s not just a case of picking out a carpet and having it installed, you need to think about which sorts of flooring will be best for the room, and how long they’re going to last. Flotex flooring is a really good option for anyone with allergies, but it’s also a very easy to maintain flooring in general, for use in the home, or in commercial property. Knowing the right maintenance technique can help keep your brand new Flotex flooring looking fantastic for as long as possible. It’s claimed that if you treat it as suggested, it will outperform every other type of textile floor on the market. The main difference between Flotex flooring and a standard carpet pile is that the fibres are smooth and upright nylon, rather than loops which can trap dirt. A vacuum cleaner will be able to pull all traces of dirt out from the base. The product is backed with vinyl, which means that unlike traditional carpet it can be thoroughly cleaned with water, steam or machinery. Completely waterproof, it can be bought back to life even if you accidently spill something which would ruin any normal pile. Red wine isn’t a problem here! To get your Flotex flooring looking good from the off, you’ll need to clean it after it’s been laid. This is because it can easily pick up dirt and grim whilst it’s being laid. Start by running over the fibres with an upright vacuum cleaner. This will remove any dry particles and dust or other loose fibres. Clean warm water will work well for most spills, but you can use a carpet detergent as well if they’re not responding. Start from the outside and work your way inwards, making sure that you rinse thorough and remove any excess water before allowing to dry. This initial clean will work well for general weekly maintenance, but you might also need to deal with smaller spills in the meantime. For these you’ll need to soak with a solution of detergent before scrubbing with warm water. This can be done by hand, but you might find a machine will be more efficient. Rinsing will prevent a build-up of detergent residue which can make the covering sticky or look unclean. Make sure you always let the floor dry before using.
