When it comes to running your business, you may be using SAP. It is one of the most popular enterprise management programs to handle accounting, HR, strategic planning, and many other aspects. Regardless of who you are hiring for your business, it's likely that they are going to encounter this program and need to know how to use it. The problem is that you don't want to spend a lot of time training someone on SAP. This time is going to take away from their productivity and the productivity of the person who has been assigned to train them. Additionally, time is money and you don't want to spend money on training that doesn't need to happen. The easiest solution is to hire someone who is already familiar with SAP. There are three ways to do this so you can ensure you have the right people for the job. #1 - Use a Recruiter When you hire a recruiter to help you with your staffing needs, you can give them a long list of credentials that you want the person to have. This can include the amount of education, experience, and other skills and trades. They will then use this list to go in search of candidates - and slowly narrow down the field. The recruiter can do preliminary interviews and even test people on their knowledge of SAP to ensure they are able to understand every aspect that they will eventually be working with. #2 - Put it in the Details You can include a variety of job requirements when you post a job opening. Whether you use Career Builder, Monster, or any other recruiting site, you can make a list of what you want people to have in order to qualify for the position. This is where you will clearly state that people have to have a 4-year degree, have a certain amount of experience in the industry and more. #3 - Recruit from Training Companies SAP is such a popular software program that many computer schools around offer courses on what it does. These are the same schools that offer courses on Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and many other computer programs. If you work with these schools and tell them that you are looking for someone knowledgeable in SAP, they will get the word out to make it easier for you to find someone who is proficient in the program. At the end of the day, you control the requirements for the job. If you want someone to already know a few programs, it is your right to refuse to hire someone if they don't know the program. There are a lot of jobs out there that don't train employees on what are considered basics of the industry - and computer programs fit the bill. By hiring someone who already knows SAP, you save time and money - which are two important things in the world of business.
