Bumps and Waves Elimination and Control During Carpet Repair

Home Improvement,Fashion & Cosmetics,Crafts
And so after a few months or years your carpet has bumps, waves or bubbles in it.There are many causes for "waves" or wrinkles in carpeting. The most common reason a carpet will develop carpet wrinkles is poor installation. The resulting wrinkles usually don't show up for at least a year or more, long after the installer is gone.

A carpet that tends to stretch needs to be repaired. If left alone, the carpet will continue to develop lumps and waves, which both looks bad and causes the carpet to wear out more quickly.

Chances are the first thing a person will notice when they visit your home is how your carpet and floors have been maintained. Quit putting throw rugs over the problems and deal with the issues that hamper the appearance of your carpet over time. Carpet repairs & stretching can be the answer to your problems.

If you carpet starts to exhibit bumps or waves, this can be simply fixed by having your carpet stretched. Sometimes the carpet comes loose from the original install and sometimes the carpet just stretches out. If you do not have this repair done and have the carpet stretched it can result in a trip and fall at worst and a visible blight in the least.

There's several reasons for ripples, waves and bumps in your carpet to appear, most of the time the reasoning for this is due to poor installation. Yes, high humidity in an empty closed home can effect the backing, flood damage, even foundation settlement could effect your carpet's structure

So what you do is this.

You buy or rent a power stretcher that will allow you to stretch the carpet well. You may have to rent or buy a kicker and a few other tools also. You don't want to just use a kicker because that will not get it tight and you might do a lot of damage to your knee if you don't use it properly. You pull up the carpet all around the edges, making sure that you don't pull apart the seams because that requires different tools to seam them back together. Also you might have to take up the base board if it wasn't installed properly in the first place. You will probably have to take apart some of the seams,so that you won't stretch past doorways, corners, etc. Only cut off the amount needed. DO NOT cut off to much or you will have to buy a new carpet. You will then have to seam those areas back together with a hot seamer and a couple of other tools. Make sure they are tight fitting and don't overlap or the seams will look horrible and be so obvious. Use the stretcher and kicker to stretch it back in place. You should stretch the carpet at an angle one way, depending on the direction of the carpet, and stretch the other way straight on. Cut the edges down, push it down, and then install the baseboard if you took it off. Do not cut the edgeing short Any carpet that has ripples needs to be "power stretched."

Power stretching involves pulling the carpet loose along the edges and using specialized equipment to restretch the carpet back to its proper position. This maintenance can greatly improve the carpet's appearance and extend its life. A carpet that is properly stretched also allows for better carpet cleaning
