If you are in the world of HR, you need to know the role of an IT recruiter to find out how they can help you find a qualified candidate and maintain your sanity in the process. Too many times, you may be responsible for every aspect of hiring and it can be maddening. A recruiter will do a majority of the work for you - and work based upon a percentage of the first year's salary of that person or for a flat fee. The IT recruiter has a variety of roles, including: - Finding applicants - Reviewing resumes - Conducting preliminary interviews - Conducting background checks - Making final recommendations Finding applicants means that you don't have to post job openings online or in newspapers. It is all done for you. You provide the details to the recruiter and they use all of their sources to find the candidates on your behalf. As for reviewing the resumes, if you have ever had a stack of a hundred or even a thousand resumes across your desk, you know it is time-consuming. An IT recruiter will be the one to review the resumes to determine who is and is not qualified so that you can focus on more of what you have to do within the HR department. The IT recruiter is also going to do all of the other tasks that you need help with. If you prefer to have background checks run on candidates that you are serious about before bringing them in for an interview, this can be done. This allows you to make sure that people are who they say they are, don't have any felonies in place, and are capable of doing the job that you could potentially hire them for. You determine the types of checks that are run. It can be a criminal check, a driver's record check, and even a drug test. This can all be done for you so that all of the results are emailed to you in a report, simplifying your job considerably. Preliminary interviews can also be completed by the IT recruiter. If you have never been fond of the interview process or don't have time for it, they are able to narrow down the list of possibilities to a select handful. This allows you to interview a few that have passed all of the other checks to determine who you want to have in your organization. With the recruiter making some final recommendations, it can make it even easier for you. While any of the people that make the final cut are capable of filling the position, you are always able to make the final decision so that you can focus on personality, skills, and general ability to fit into your workforce culture for a good fit. You may be busy with a variety of tasks in the HR department. An IT recruiter's role is to make your life easier by taking on the hiring responsibility.
