When we have plans to take our family anywhere one of the major considerations is always going to be just how safe that place is from criminal activity. Over the past few years we have been told a number of reports of high profile violent crimes, but it is perhaps valid to have in mind such criminal activity would spill over into spots we'd take our families, such as the theme parks as well as beach locations. From the top, it is pretty apparent that it is in the best benefit of the tourism business to make sure the destinations feel secure. When observing some of the old articles with Florida criminal activity, I had been rather surprised to see the criminal state of affairs was in Florida twenty years ago. In point of fact, things in Florida at that time hadn't been good, which reflects what the condition was in most areas of the US at that time. It doesn't draw a whole lot of media hype at the present since it's not eye-catching news, but crime statistics are generally dropping everywhere, and that includes Florida. There are certain spots you don't want to go if you want to avoid crime. But it really appears like today you've more chance of being attacked by the pirates in the ride "Pirates of the Caribbean" in Disney World than with some random act of violence. Each one of the theme amusement parks is aware that the bad publicity which will go with any occurrence of a customer being attacked will do enormous damage to their brand. Because of this the security at each one of the amusement parks is very high. But there is another thing at work, but it also creates a paradox circumstances for the theme parks. The State of Florida grants fairly heavy tax breaks to corporations that state they are part of an "urban high-crime area". This of course signifies that they need to declare that they are within a high crime area to get these tax breaks, and also at the same time convince the people that they're within a crime free situation. To be sure these aren't high crime areas, and it's probably not accurate that they're able to claim they really are to help their bottom line. However, you cannot really hold it against them for taking a benefit from some poorly thought-out statute. But it all isn't really crucial for the guest that wants to make sure that the family is safe. Once you get into these well-run parks, there may be not any safer place in the world that you can be.
