Hiring people can be one of the hardest parts of your job. When you are in the HR department, you have a constant flow of work coming in. When someone from your organization comes in and tells you that they need to hire a few new people, it can cause your work to come to a screeching halt. Your focus becomes finding qualified people to fill the openings and this can be a time-consuming process. Working with a professional recruiter can be the best way to maintain your sanity. There are three main tasks that you will want to turn over to a professional recruiter so that it’s less for you to do. Creating Ads When you need to hire for open positions, it’s important to create ads and place them in newspapers, industry publications, and online. This can be costly because almost everywhere will charge you for ad space. If you are a large company, you may also want to get a larger ad space to ensure that people know who you are and what the benefits are for working with you. The ads are also going to take time to place. The easier solution is to work with a professional recruiter who will create and place all of the ads for you. They have sources that you don’t and they may already have a pile of resumes that can be used for the job openings that you have – and that can lead to finding qualified people for your organization faster. Sorting Resumes After you have posted ads, there are going to be a lot of resumes coming in. Some may be paper resumes while others may be electronic. They aren’t going to sort themselves and that means you have to sit there and sort through all of them. You have to create some kind of sorting method to find ones that are qualified so that you can make sense of them. Depending on the market that you are in, there could be hundreds or even thousands of resumes received for a single job opening. A professional recruiter is going to sort the resumes. Their experience leads to a unique system that makes it easier for them to complete this task – and it will save you from doing it personally, which is a time savings of several hours per day. Conducting Background Checks Once you have some qualified resumes on your desk, you likely want to conduct background checks to ensure they are who they say they are. The background checks can tell you about virtually anything that you want to know. This includes previous addresses, criminal backgrounds, and various other details. If you tell a professional recruiter that you want background checks conducted on people, they will do the checks for you before presenting you with resumes – and that saves you time. It can also ensure that you have enough qualified resumes on your desk to make a final hiring decision.
