Midstream jobs are some of the most sought after jobs in today's market. If you want to work in the gas and oil industry, there are several ways to get involved. While it always helps to have the proper level of education, it is also about experience. To ensure that you get the best jobs that are out there, you can do a few things. 1. Build Your Resume You need to work on building your resume. If you seek midstream jobs, it's a good idea to do a few job searches to find out what companies are looking for. What kind of experience and education do they want you to have? Once you identify these, you can work on getting the experience and education that you need to be successful. It can also be helpful to talk to people who are already in the gas and oil industry to find out what kind of degree they have – if they have one. If you are not interested in pursuing a four year degree, there may also be technical certificates to enroll in that will take approximately a year and give you a solid foundation to enter the industry. 2. Choose a Market If you want to look at midstream jobs, you have to decide on a market to work within. The gas and oil industry isn't everywhere, so you may have to move to be closer to a site. You also have to decide whether you want to be involved with gas and oil in general, fracking, or even offshore drilling. All of these markets will provide you with opportunities to become employed, but the environment can be very different. You may want to do some research before you decide on a market. For example, before you sign a one-year contract with a company for midstream jobs on an offshore rig, you should talk to people who have already worked on a rig to find out how it was and what you need to know about the experience. 3. Work with a Recruiter A recruiter can help you in a variety of ways. When you find a recruiter that has the experience of being in the gas and oil industry, he or she will be able to look at your resume and identify any flaws. This will provide you with the way to make it better and stronger – and position yourself to gain better jobs within the industry. The recruiter is also going to work to find you a job with a company that meets your basic needs. Your skills and education will be compared to all of the open positions and if there are matches that you qualify for, interviews will be set up. Working with a recruiter is the better alternative than having to submit your resumes to countless companies and play the waiting game of whether you qualify or not. When you are in search of midstream jobs, you can find a number of better opportunities by building your resume, choosing your market, and then working with a recruiter.
