Let's have a look at a bank safety deposit boxes. Many people place their jeweler and their extra cash in safety deposit boxes and by the word safe you would believe that these boxes are safe and in the old days, they were safe except through the government who had the correct to come in after having a person passed away. Nowadays, government authorities can use any trumped up excuse to lock your safe deposit box. A couple of years earlier, the government froze everyone's safe deposit boxes in several financial institutions, with all the excuse they were looking for terrorist ties. No person had accessibility to their possessions for three several weeks. Some people were actually prevented from travelling since their passports were seized. Individuals were up in arms around the loss of their privacy, their important paperwork and their property. Nonetheless they could do absolutely nothing to obtain access to what rightfully belonged to them. Try to have them in different banks and ensure that you have copies of all important documentation if you must use a safe deposit box. You might want to divide what you have between a bank in your own country and maybe banks in two or three other countries if you have gold or silver that can be stored in other countries. The banks are now struggling to work within the confines of the new regulations. So, whereas once upon a time in the not too distant past, many banks had their call centers stay open 24 hours a day every day. Very recently those same banks have closed their call centers during the Sundays and night. So, now they may be open from 8am until midnight Monday to Saturday and closed on Sundays. In the UK, unless you pay a monthly fee for your account, you may find that you no longer have access to the 24/7 customer service helpline. In general, overdraft fees have gone up, their Annual Percentage Rates have gone up, many of their local branches are working fewer hours. In this unstable economy, with so many doom and gloom predictions coming at us from every direction, let's take a look at how we might be able to protect ourselves for worst case scenarios. It's a well known fact that banks, financial institutions and entities in general have the power to freeze our accounts. It is our responsibility to try to prevent the worst from happening to us, as long as we have that knowledge. The first thing that I would do is put my money into different banks however little money I have, I would put into different banks. I might try to protect my assets a different way, though I would not be putting my money into high risk or even medium risk ventures. Actual coins that you put in your hot little hand and store somewhere safe, though I would buy silver and gold not the stocks of silver and gold. You need to have those coins rather than just pieces of paper that say you own gold, although you can store it in your own country, you can store it in other countries.
