Certainly one of my favorite theme parks is Disney World's Epcot in Orlando Florida. Having the ability to experience the cultures of many different nations in only such a short walk will be what makes that park so great. Yet how Epcot started off in 1982 is quite a remarkable account, and this probably epitomizes the forward thinking which goes on with the Disney creators. Also, Walt Disney himself did not imagine this particular area as just another amusement park, but something far more futurist. The concept of Epcot from day one had been the dream of a community which was to set a model for different communities to replicate. Novel thinking regarding modern construction approaches such as Disney's Contemporary Resort Hotel and the Polynesian Resort Hotel connecting Epcot by a transport system, the monorail, had been rather innovative. Particular attention had been devoted to preserving our environment as well as ecosystem. This was a town that was going to begin with scratch and become a model for towns of the future. When the planning of Epcot began Walt Disney World was in their 3rd year heading to being the nation's primary family getaway spot. However there were a lot of outside factors occurring at that time which would likely make most businesses pause to hold off for improved times. Within the center of the planning for Epcot would be a worldwide energy situation during the mid-70s. This not just prompted gas prices to escalate (it is hard to think that we were still forking over under a dollar a gallon) but still fuel shortages brought on lengthy lines simply to get gas. Speed limits had been reduced to 55 miles per hour, and all of this created a major effect on transportation all through the United States. All of these problems had a major damaging effect with attendance at Disney World, because it decreased by as much as 800,000 guests. Yet Disney management, with the trust that the economy is going to get better pushed on, working eight years on the development and launch with Epcot. By 2012 it commemorated its 30th anniversary as the sixth most frequented park in the whole world. So does Epcot realize those dreams of its creator, Walt Disney? Not really completely, as following Disney's death the organization decided it weren't able to run the city devoid of the visualization of its originator. Epcot has had an influence on the developments of cities such as Bay Lake in addition to Lake Buena Vista. But a lot think that it truly hit the objective with its showcase of international cultures and heritage, which in the opinion of many individuals plus mine is the major attraction in Walt Disney World.
