I have never been very equipment savvy when it comes to golf. I decided to actually learn golf last year after of playing casually for years without purpose. I decided to update my clubs and purchased a set of Callaway X Hot irons. After playing with them for the last 3 months. I have grown to really like them. I went to a golf fitter and tried several different clubs. I tried Taylormade RocketBladez irons, Ping G25 irons and Mizuno MP 53 Irons. I was hitting these on the Trackman and out of all the clubs I tried, the X-hots went furthest and where the most forgiving on mishits. I was hitting most of the clubs pure with the exception of the Mizunos. Tech Talk: The large, very thin face is designed to boost ball speed, and the most flexible part has been lowered to be more in line with the impact area. The center of gravity (GC) has also been kept low to produce a high launch angle. Hot: Game-improvement irons have always been a strength for Callaway. And by upgrading to a lightweight True Temper "speed step" shaft, Callaway has, thankfully, finally gotten away from its one-shaft-fits-all UniFlex. The X-hot 6 iron was going 180-185 consistently on pure shots. Every other club I tried was 10-15 yards shorter. They go long and where you aim them. On mishits the club lets you know it but does not jar your hands at all. Pure hits are unreal. You hear a small tick and the ball explodes off the face. On the course they are easy to get the ball in the air and they play especially well from the rough. I feel more consistent with these clubs and my scores have been improving since I got them.
