A decade ago, Valentine’s Day isn’t the commercialized event that it is today. During those days, more than anything else, the day was meant to be a unique opportunity for couples to spend time together. One of my aunts, who married to her love of 10 years, shared her experience of this day with me. My uncle and aunt had a love marriage, against the will of most of our family members. However, I must admit, their marriage is one of the most successful ones that I have seen, so far! While discussing with her, I enquired about the various romantic Valentine’s Day gifts that were exchanged during those days. He had arranged for a special boat riding session on Valentine’s Day eve, and made sure they were on the banks of the pond when the clock stuck 12! At 12, they opened the champagne and cherished memories of their togetherness. On the same day, my aunt had ordered a bottle of antique wine for my uncle. She made sure the wine was served in the antique glassware available at the palace. She wanted my uncle to enjoy the royal treatment! Then, she narrated an amazing experience of one of their friend. The lady wasn’t keeping well for quite some time and due to this, she was hospitalized. However, destiny had its own plans. The lady started recovering, and on Valentine’s Day eve was supposed to get discharged and return home. Her husband hired a decorator and completely decorated their entire house. There was red carpet spread all over the house. Dining table was decorated with lavish food items. Help was available all over the house for the lady. She was awestruck as soon as she entered the house! I know, you will be having a small drop of tear waiting to fall! This experience in itself truly defines the meaning of this day…Celebration of love and togetherness. So, instead of picking up any gift from the store, make sure you get something that can be cherished for a lifetime. Make the day special by making your loved one feel special as well!
