Given the growing popularity of the physical security information management system, it should only be logical that the software gets offered under more affordable rates. However, this has not been the case, and it is not uncommon to find many companies spending a bit too much just to purchase PSIM software. In other words, the dream of securing a less expensive version of the PSIM remains an elusive dream for those who require sophisticated security systems. However, there is a way around this nagging issue as a number of enterprising entities have come to discover. For starters, there are now available PSIM-like models which can carry out the basic functions of the genuine version. On the whole, though, these are underground products which can prove to be harmful in the long run to any given business in need of an efficient security system. A better alternative would be to settle for so-called PSIM-lite models. These are essentially less complex versions of the physical security information management system suited for generally smaller businesses. These offerings have more or less the same features as the standard PSIM, but are surprisingly less costly and carry easier implementation programming. One other option that should be worth looking into is entering into a form of cooperative set-up. Under this particular option, one customer holds the main PSIM software under his server but opens the service to several others. These secondary customers are consequently given access to selected features of the PSIM, especially those that will benefit them immensely in terms of security provision. Of course, the subsequent costs that will be incurred for making use of the physical security information management system is something that should be shouldered by all the users. This is one aspect of the sharing set-up that naturally has to be discussed prior to the actual use of any security system. This so-called PSIM sharing scheme is not exactly new. A few industries have actually entered into this type of arrangement and have benefitted greatly. Those involved in mass transport systems that cover several cities are good examples. In the end, even as the physical security information management system appears to be presently beyond the reach of generally smaller enterprises, there are still some ways of going around the status quo. Eventually though, PSIM developers need to consider making their products more affordable, especially when more businesses begin to realize the true worth of PSIM as a highly-innovative security system.
