Production of these coins: The silver eagles are produced at three different mints in the United States of America. • The San Francisco Mint • The Philadelphia Mint • The West Point Mint Design on the silver bullion coin: The silver eagles have the design of the Walking Liberty. The picture of Walking Liberty was first used on the obverse of the half a dollar coin that was produced between 1916 and 1947. This design of the Walking Liberty was made by Adolph A. Weinman. The design became such a classic in the history of coins that even after the half dollar coin was stopped producing the design was used again in the present day silver bullion coins. The design was also a favorite with the public and so the design was revived years later. On the other side of the coin is the picture of an eagle which was designed by John Mercanti.
