The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average, which bounced back over 2 percent at one point in the morning, ended up 150.29 points, or 1.76 percent, from Wednesday to 8,668.86. On Wednesday, the Nikkei ended at the lowest level since April 28, 2009. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange finished 10.07 points, or 1.36 percent, higher at 751.76. The iron and steel sector led the gainers, and was followed by the precision machinery and sea transport sectors. The air transport sector, miscellaneous products sector including games giant Nintendo and the foods sector were the sole decliner.
