It sounds too harsh, given that such window cleaning service providers are expected to adhere to extremely high standards of professionalism. With that in mind, make sure your service provider does not perform the following mistakes: Clean your windows on a sunny day Cleaning solutions will dry too quickly and leave visible streaks on your glass windows if there's too much sun. Your best bet is therefore to choose a cloudy, calm day when the temperature is not higher than 70°F outside. You may not know it but cleaning solution streaks and stains on your glass window can weaken the glass and reduce its lifespan. Use lemon or vinegar on everything Some window cleaners who like natural remedies commit this mistake mostly because they think lemon and vinegar are mild. In fact, some homeowners also make the same mistake. Both vinegar and lemon are acidic. They are ideal for cleaning but their acidity can easily damage natural surfaces like onyx, travertine, marble and limestone. Use cleaners as disinfectants All cleaning solutions are not made the same. It is therefore important to spend a few minutes just to read labels. Certain areas of the house such as countertops, bathrooms, door handles and the kitchen sink call for real disinfectants to kill germs. With that in mind, ensure your preferred cleaning establishment uses strong disinfectants on these areas. If possible, request them to use a disinfectant you prefer instead of them using one of their choices. Then keep in mind that most disinfectants need to stay wet on a surface for a few hours. Use the wrong tools The biggest risk here is using tools that are too abrasive. For instance, green backed cleaning and scrubbing sponges are ideal for heavy duty and intense cleaning tasks such as scrubbing the bottom of pots or grill grates. They however scratch some surfaces like ceramic cook tops, laminate and plastic. That's where white backed cleaning sponges come into the picture. Use too many cleaning products You already know that too much of something is poisonous. The same case applies with cleaning. Using too much cleaning solutions may leave you with a sticky build up on whatever surface you are cleaning. Save money and ensure your preferred cleaning service provider uses enough liquid soap, detergent or disinfectant. Does not go green for the environment There are more than enough eco friendly cleaning solutions in the market. If anything, it is easy for one to get spoilt for choice. So if for one reason or another, the company you wish to hire doesn't use eco friendly cleaning solutions, ignore them. Eco friendly products are ideal for several reasons. For starters, they hardly cause allergies. Then they are affordable and of course, good for Mother Nature!
