You gave your son the birthday present that he has been hoping you will give him and you contentedly watch his eyes go wide and heard him squeal with delight as he discovered a remote or radio controlled toy car inside. As he excitedly went down on all fours to unpack everything and insert the batteries, he suddenly looked up and asked you how this RC toy car works. Well, instead of giving him a vague answer which he might just forget later on, you might as well tell him some things which would definitely answer the question he just asked you. So, how does an RC toy car work? The toy cars are driven by miniature engines and series of gears inside them. There are two types of engines, one is the combustion engine that has operating principles similar to that of a real car and the other is the electronic engine which gets its power from a rechargeable battery in order to spin the rest of the gears battery operated ride ons. Those toys fitted with combustion engines are normally fueled by a mixture of nitro methane, methanol, and oil. This mixture is stored in a small tank and sparingly fed to the combustion engines through a small tube. When it reaches the combustion chamber inside the engine, it explodes and generates compressed air that forces the piston to go up and down, which then turns a shaft on which a couple of gears are connected. These gears enable the wheels of the toy car to turn. Though this is a gas powered toy car, there are still the electrical components which are powered by a battery and handles the veer and speed control. These electrical components are attached to a radio receiver device and base all their actions on the one holding the remote control transmitter device. Electric RC toys are powered by rechargeable batteries which are directly connected to a geared motor. This motor turns all the necessary gears in order for the car to move back or forth. The same battery provides the power needed by other electrical components of the car such as its servo motors. Battery powered toys are simpler in design and easy to maintain compared to their mechanical counterparts. These toys are suitable for kids who might not have any idea yet about combustion engines. Remote transmitter devices are those little square black things that came along with your RC toy package. Most of these have antennas that can be extended or retracted. They contain a series of controls which when pushed sends out a signal to the RC toy car. This signal is transmitted using a radio frequency and is immediately received by the radio frequency receiver on the RC toy car battery operated toy cars. Now you have a simple explanation of how RC toys work. So the next time your son would be asking this question, you will definitely be able to answer right away.
