Filled with hopeless characters taking leaps of faith and, in their own ways, achieving the impossible, the film is in a sense filled with magic tricks, so Jay’s presences isn’t that much of a surprise. But his talent on stage, where he tells stories about past magicians and historical trivia that illuminate his tricks, seems to carry over to this film, where he does some pithy explaining of the world the characters live in. Though it’s just a voice, Jay provides the right voice needed to set the film’s tone.
