Interracial dating and marriage conjure up many emotions for some. Some are over joyed while others overtly angry. There is several factors that increase the likelihood of people favoring interracial dating. This article looks at location as one of the factors that for those who favor interracial dating. The United States is more diverse than ever. More people are coming into the US from all parts of the world. Where they settle is a great indication of places where interracial dating and marriages will occur. Believe it or not interracial dating and marriages were once outlawed in the US. It was not until 1967 that miscegenation was declared unconstitutional. Yes people in the US are very accepting of diversity in cultures but when it comes to marriage or dating it's sometimes another story. Often stereotypes come in to play. "You'll be eating chicken and get fat and be poor" "You will be very rich". The US has more interracial and interfaith dating and marriages than most countries around the world. The reason for this is location. People often settle in areas for work or school. The cities and college towns are magnets for multicultural experiences. As a result, interracial dating and marriages more often occur in the cities and college town areas. This is because there is more interactions in general. Schools, work and neighborhoods are integrated enough to allow dating and marriage to occur. And integrate they do. Outside the US , America is known as a multicultural country. In Korea, one tends to see primarily Koreans. In Scandinavia, one tends to see blondes. America is one of the few countries that embraces all ethnic groups. Though not everyone easily embraces interracial dating and marriages in America. Many Americans are locked in their own cultures. There are many people of different nationalities who've never needed to learn a English while living in the US. Why? Because all around them are their own kind who speak their own language. In this dense culture, you can't even think of this person as seeing beyond their own boundaries since verbally the walls haven't even started to be broken. It's not bad just the way it is. Likewise, in an all white Montana town that's never seen any one of any other race or language, you can't expect them to go out on any date let alone marriage. In addition, as people focus on home, work and establishing a routine, there's little time left to expand boundaries. People are often like coach potatoes in this aspect of preferring and feeling more comfortable with the same type people around them. But expanding boundaries is often beneficial. One of the aspects of Asian culture is the use of tofu in the diet. Asian countries have low incidence of prostate cancer and research points to tofu as the main reason why prostate cancer is so low in Asian countries. Breaking cultural barriers has its benefits. A good relationship is a good relationship but breaking the ice and getting there is what it takes. And the likelihood of any ice-breaking most often occurs where there is some dialogue. Schools, work and neighborhoods are where this most often occurs and where the start of interracial dating often occurs. Location is the best way to determine those more likely to favor interracial and interfaith dating.
