Salt! Some Say Don't Use It, Others Say Our Body Needs It!

Health
The first question you most likely be asking: Who is right and who is wrong? Could it be there is some right on both sides of that argument?

There are many questions that need answers: Does our body need salt? Will high salt consumption increase the risk of heart disease? Is salt bad for blood pressure? Does it cause swelling of the limbs? Is it affecting joints and arthritis as well as rheumatoid arthritis etc.?

Salt has long been one of our most treasured foods over hundreds of years and is essential for life, we've been told! Debates about salt, is it good for our health or bad been an issue over many years and unfortunately it has become a political football instead of science; and on top of that some conflict of interest is in that as well. Make no mistake! Our body needs salt! Although not all salts are the same or equal, which one is the right one?

Wrong diagnostics at the time!

Back in the seventies blood pressure and cholesterol became a big issue; coincidentally, this is the same time when processed and junk food started to become popular. Doctors had this dilemma with patients of high blood pressure and cholesterol. According to medical information a no or low salt - diet is the best. At the time salt far from being harmful vilified as a primary cause of high blood pressure, cholesterol and heart disease. The question is still not answered today besides of all studies and research: Who is right and who is wrong?

To survive and thrive our body needs salt and that is a medical fact. Of course, it depends on what side of the fence you are on. Do you remember when livestock and deer etc. was given salt-stone to lick?

Facts about salt!

Many nature studies confirm that a low-sodium diet is unhealthy, a risk of diabetes and premature death. The salt institute is calling on agencies to hold wasteful efforts to have a lower salt consumption until there is prove of the benefits that a low-sodium diet will not harm anyone.

There are many factors that need be taken into consideration. Not all salts are the same. Natural salt has a certain percentage of sodium chloride and many natural trace minerals. As in contrast to table salt, although it also has some sodium chloride, the rest consists of chemicals. It includes such ingredients as moisture absorbents, flow agents, aluminosilicate and iodine; these are the ones that destroy the benefits of salt.

One important factor in the salt issue is the potassium to sodium ratio of your salt intake. Imbalanced salt ratio can affect a number of health issues and other diseases. To get the wrong balance in this ratio is by consuming too many processed foods. These foods are known us low in potassium while high in sodium, which is just the opposite of a right diet.

Which is the good salt our body needs?

Far from being harmful, our body needs salt it is part of our nutrition, provided it is the right one. Processed table salt has many added chemicals and nothing in common with natural unrefined salt. The most important elements natural salt provides are sodium and chloride of which our body cannot make and is important to have in our diet.

With a higher vegetable intake in your diet you would have better chances of getting the ideal ratio of sodium-to-potassium which is crucial for overall health. All processed foods are low in potassium and other essential nutrients. Natural salts such as Himalayan, rock-salt, see-salt ( not the salt from the dead-sea ) are low on sodium and high on many minerals. As well the taste is by far better than table salt which we shouldn't use. Salting food to your own taste would give about the right level for your diet. Don't forget to trough out the table salt! Most of our food supply on the shelves today has many hidden culprits even the simple table salt. Being vigilant of what we consume because our health and life depends on it.

There is more being told of what is good and what to avoid, just click the link, information is free.
