The pretty catered chalet Sermoz is ideal for skiers wanting to explore the extensive Paradiski area, as it is located beside the Vanoise Express cable car connecting La Plagne and Les Arcs. |
Set in the Alpine village of Plan-Peisey, part of the Les Arcs resort, Chalet Sermoz is moments away from both the Vanoise Express cable car and the high-speed 6-man chairlift to the centre of Les Arcs. This gives skiers staying in the catered chalet easy access to the extensive pistes of the Paradiski area, with its range of different level runs from nursery slopes and blues to blacks.
As well as being close to the network of lifts taking you into Les Arcs and La Plagne, Chalet Sermoz is close to the Alpine village’s friendly centre with its shops and bars, perfect for enjoying a little après ski relaxation.
Inside the Chalet
The high-rafted ceilings of the spacious pine-clad living area with its roaring log fire give this catered chalet a charming Alpine feel which continues in its seven, simple pine-clad bedrooms.
The generous balconies, which wrap around the dining and living area, give beautiful views across the valley to La Plagne and the Vanoise Express cable car which connects it. There’s a friendly communal dining area where you can enjoy the delicious food prepared by the chalet staff, and a comfy, open-plan seating area. A perfect space for families to relax together at the end of a long day’s skiing.
It’s definitely worth taking the lift down to the pretty old village of Peisey one evening. A traditional Alpine village with a 17th century church and a local history museum, it’s a great insight into the area’s past. In Plan-Peisey itself you’ll find a variety of shops selling local goods including food and gifts as well as ski equipment. If you’re looking to unwind with a vin chaud after skiing, then visit the lively Greg’s Bar for a game of pool or the cosy L’Alpage, close to the Televillage.
Where to Eat on the Staff Day Off
Although you’ll be spoilt by having great food served to you each night in the comfort of your catered chalet, the one staff night off a week will give you a good reason to go out and try some of the local food.
Le Bachal specialises in traditional Savoyard food, from the legendary tartiflette to fondues and raclette.
How to Get There
If you just want to pack up the car and go, then the drive to Plan-Peisey is motorway most of the way. Take the A43 from Chambéry or Grenoble, then the N90 to Albertville and then Moûtiers. Come off the N90 at Landry and follow the D87 to Peisey-Vallandry.
The Eurostar and TGV train services stop at Bourg St Maurice, a short 30 minute drive from Plan-Peisey by taxi or bus.
Those who prefer to fly can fly to either Geneva or Chambéry airport, from where a minibus service is available to the resort.
