Estate agents market and sell property. They also deal with paperwork, monitor the chain (of buyers selling their old home and sellers buying their new home), liaise with your solicitor and negotiate with buyers and sellers. They for sure do have a very very very busy job in terms of what it is they do for the client. Estate agents usually specialise in either sales or letting, either of residential or commercial property. They will do this for and with property of low and high value in terms of the end overall value of the asset as a whole. Self-employment and freelance work is possible - though this does in part depend as to the agents themselves in terms of their overall job offering as an agent. Estate Agents use their knowledge of the property market to help buy and sell properties. They tend to be able to use this also to good effect in the local market to where the property may be listed for sale. In choosing an estate agent, they will also do other jobs; these jobs include looking at and doing credit checks and overseeing the key processes with the solicitors and mortgage brokers. This is all key as a means to ensure the sale can and will be able to go through. Estate Agents, Chartered Surveyors, Lettings and Property Management all very much ties in hand in hand and tends to be a tie in job market in terms of the work to which these professionals all do in their day to day work. Overall, look to do as much research as you can. While some estate agents believe in honesty, many will not tell you the full story in order to make a bit more money out of you. Bear this in mind in terms of how you choose the ideal overall estate agent. Don’t be too trusting and make sure you get valuations from at least three agents and check out similar property prices. Just make sure they are not just out to get a quick property sale / quick buck.
