A patio or deck is a great place to spend time. It can be an escape from the craziness of your day to day routine. Relaxing in the evening on your patio can help to melt away all your stress and help you to rejuvenate. Unfortunately, even the best patio furniture in the world is eventually going to need to be cleaned. If your patio furniture is starting to leave its mark on you, it is probably time to give it a good thorough cleaning. Here are some tips to bring it back to looking like new. - Cushions – Outdoor cushions will usually have a tag on them that describes how best to clean the cushion. If the outer fabric is removable, you may be able to run it through the washing machine to bring it back to new. Otherwise, a mild detergent and a good scrub brush should be able to remove most of the dirt and grime. You can also add some Borax to the mix for some extra cleaning power.
- Plastic – For white plastic furniture, you can use automatic dishwasher detergent. It will get it clean and often will also bleach it, bringing it back to a nice bright white. For colored plastic, wash with a mild detergent and rinse thoroughly so that the detergent and sun do not fade the color.
- Wicker – Use a wood oil soap and a brush to clean wicker furniture. The oil soap will help to restore and protect the fibers in the wicker, prolonging the furniture’s life.
If your patio furniture is looking dirty and abandoned, it’s probably time to give it a good cleaning. In general, a mild detergent and a soft brush or sponge can go a long way toward bringing your furniture back to looking like new. Make sure to clean your furniture on a regular basis to prevent permanent staining and damage.
