Any pool owner knows that there are all sorts of supplies that one can purchase for their pool, from the arcane to the essentials. However, when it comes to those necessary items, the top of anyone’s list will consist of those chemicals needed to maintain a clean pool. Management of the pool water’s chemistry is important in order to maintain a safe and healthy pool environment and therefore testing should be done frequently. Instead, these tests require filling a vial with a water sample, adding an indicator solution, and finally mixing the solution. The titrant is then added drop by drop and the user counts the number of drops it takes to make the color change completely. Digital Recently, three types of digital testing kits have come on the market as self-contained units that can interface with online databases. Digital meter kits are hand-held, battery-operated devices that use internal software and metallic probes to measure some but not all water chemicals. Photometric scanners use a spectrophotometer and internal software to calculate results. A vial of pool water and a reagent is inserted and the hand-held scanner does the rest. Digital strip readers are photometric readers that make precise readings from the comparison pads on special test strips that work with a digital strip reader. The strip is inserted into the reader and it takes over from there.
