5 Ways to Keep Your Home Fresh

Advice,Blogs,Consumer
I'm not too sure about you, but I actually benefit from a little domestic cleaning therapy now and then. It may seem a little bizarre to some, but cleaning my home tends to relax me, and I always feel a lot happier in a cleaner home.

If like me, you enjoy getting your hands dirty, consider these 5 ways to keep your home fresh. You will find that is really easy to do; the hardest part is sticking to a cleaning schedule and that is something we will discuss later in this post.

Create a Schedule

Just like anything, cleaning is a lot easier with a full plan of action in place. It helps you to target the areas that require serious attention and time. You can then look to address the lower priority areas after.

I find that planning gives me a better outlook on my home - I tend to consider the most public spaces as a high priority. These could include any living spaces, easily accessible bathrooms, kitchens, dining areas and even any conservatories. Basically, any room that guests will have access to during their visit.

As we mentioned in the introduction, the hardest part is to create a schedule and stick to it. So to help you out and get you in the right direction, just consider these benefits.

A cleaner home will attract fewer germs, meaning that you and your family members will get sick on a less frequent basis.

Your clean home will instantly look more attractive and feel bigger.

If you are selling your property, agents will be able to sell your home to potential buyers a lot quicker, making the entire house moving process far smoother.

Utilise Quality Products

Quality is everything. Use low-quality products, and you will save money, but you will find yourself cleaning on a more regular basis. However, spend a little extra on high-quality cleaning products, and I promise that you will not be disappointed with the end product.

Before I started taking cleaning seriously, I would always spend the absolute minimum on cleaning products. I found that the cheaper product tends to give off a rather strong, acidic smell that literally hurt my nostrils. The toilet cleaner would fill the air for days and make the bathroom an unpleasant place to relax (if you get my drift...).

Clear Dust

I know it's a nightmare, but it needs to be done. Unfortunately, dust seems to collect absolutely everywhere! I find that dusting as least once a week helps improve the amount of dust that is present. Just a good quality feather duster and a good cleaning agent will be more than enough to keep your open spaces tidy.

Vacuum Regularly

A good rule of thumb is to vacuum every time you dust. As you go across furniture and ornaments, any dust that isn't collected will usually end up on the floor with any other small amounts of dirt and debris.

An extra good rule is always to make sure that you dust before you vacuum. After all, there is no point in making the carpet look spotless and then dusting away, only to discover you have coated the carpets with a thin layer of dust!

Use Air Fresheners

There are many excellent fresheners out there. For marketing purposes, I won't name any specific brands, but with a quick Google search or visit to your local supermarket, I'm sure you will find a lot of the leading contenders.

Fresheners are used to refresh the air in a room with minimal effort. When you clean, dust and vacuum you can sometimes fall victim of dusty air. These fresheners ensure that those bad odours are attacked and removed quickly to make sure that your home smells as good as it looks!

RCS Cleaning is a local domestic and commercial cleaning agency based in the south east of the UK. They provide everyday cleaners in Milton Keynes and office cleaning experts.
