Change the Filter Changing the air filter is the best thing homeowners can do to maintain their system. As the air flows through the house, it picks up dust and dirt and carries it to the unit. Today’s technologies are used for smart thermostats. These can adjust the temperature in the house based on whose home and what the outside temperature is. Homeowners should periodically check the thermostat to make sure it is reading the temperature correctly and is situated in the right part of the house. The Outside Unit There are two parts to an air conditioner, one inside and one out. The outside unit is exposed to all sorts of problems, from dirt and grass to baseballs and hail. Homeowners should clean the unit every month to allow the air to flow freely through the unit. Any bushes and trees should be kept a good distance away to allow good air flow. And, they should check the protective cage around the exterior coils to make sure it is in good shape. The inside unit is a little more sensitive and the maintenance should be handled by an AC company. Watkinsville homeowners can partner with a good company to keep their system running smoothly for many years.
