Immigration laws are rules and regulation that govern the entrance of a certain country and how long one will be in that country. The immigration law was established by the Federal government. The Federal agencies have a duty to administer and enforce immigration laws. The lawbreakers and offenders are investigated by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The legal immigration applications are normally handled by US Citizenship and Immigration Services while Border Protection keeps the border secure. Immigration law governs the process of naturalization for people who are desiring to become US citizens. In addition, immigration law controls the detention and follows how the removal proceedings are carried out for when the foreign countries overstay in a certain country than recommended or when they lose legal status. According to the US constitution, the Congress is given the exclusive rights to legislate the immigration area. In US government, States are prohibited from using Immigration law . People from foreign countries get permission to visit the US through visa application and approval process. The immigrant visas are for the persons who want to stay in United State and get employed while non-immigrant visas are meant for tourists, business people and the students, in other words, are temporary visas. Citizens from developed countries who are economically and politically stable are allowed to travel to United State for 90 days without obtaining a visa. The visa waiver program is used for people coming for vocation and it is available to citizens of 37 countries. The visa waiver bans the foreign citizens from working, going to school or applying for any permanent status. When applying for immigration, the person is required to give various detailed applications to the Federal government. The immigration regulation keeps changing, it is hard for a person to stay without formal training. Since immigration is diverse, attorneys specialize in particular types of the cases.
